My teen age son and I were talking last night about the weekend and then turned toward shooting this weekend (I think he set me up). He asked if we could set up one of my 45's for him as he's been shooting a 40. I'm fortunate enough to have a few NOS still in the box 45 1:20 SS. So, last night we put a basic black T-hole stock I had (he thinks it looks cool - kids!) Leupold bases, Burris signature series rings (+0.020" in rear, -0.020" in front inserts), took the bolt and breech plug out my 1:20 (because I like the RPJ). Mounted a Leupold AR 3-9x. Bore sighted so I hoped to be on paper at 50.
So, since I was going the range tonight for a BOD meeting, I took it along and had time to fire a few shots before the meeting.
Used my load I shoot in mine: 85gr Swiss 2F, but a new bullet mold I recently modified to HP - 525 GG HP (pure lead).
Originally planning on shooting a few shots to get it on paper before this weekend, but I couldn't stop at 50. I started with the first shot low at 50 from the bore sighter (at least I hit paper - I've been there before), I had to quit after only a few shots at each target; 4 at 50, 3 at 100 & 5 at 200 was all. But, that was all I needed to keep saying to myself - these things will SHOOT!
